This is a critical aspect in our world system. Getting to know the interaction and the dynamics of conflict and what triggers conflict is as important to know the whys what. How did it start, who was involved. Most conflicts are lighted up by political factors such as weak governments, social contract and corruption, identity politics.
This brings about the levels of democracy in our system. Mature democracies tend to resolve their conflict and manage the situation through democratic participation and autocracies tend to be more repressive on their citizens and force situations.
Most conflicts are due to repressive government. Institutions that only favour a few individuals and turn a backside on most of the population. We can note that from those small groups or rather marginalized groups tend to revolt towards the government which results to conflict.
Also we can also understand that violent conflict in a particular nation are most caused by external groups. Other external players camouflage into the conflict as if they are important to the people. They actually interfere with peaceful citizens in the expense of their own interest l.
Violent conflicts in Libya, Syria are believed to be caused by external forces or entities such as the NATO or powerful states like the U.S. Potentially these states have much resources on their land and hence the ongoing violent conflicts cannot end any time soon because of interest of resources from external entities.
Political institutions try to bring up the inequality gap from acts such as corruption. These acts make up the population from not accessing much of resources as there isn’t equitable sharing of resources. Resources such as power, land, minerals have made many states fail hence the name failed states.
Identity politics have a huge role in violent conflict. People tend to identify themselves with some cultural and religious believes. Violent conflicts comes in when certain people tend to believe that their ethnic, religion or culture is superior than their fellow men. This has been seen in some parts of of the horn of Africa like Somalia where their conflict has been inflicted by their clan differences and also hutus in Rwanda.
Poverty and conflict go hand in hand. It has been argued that conflict also can cause poverty. This is clear that they are intertwined in their own way. Extreme poverty has caused recruitment of people to violent groups that indeed bring about conflicts.
Violent conflicts are politically driven whereby a certain political group believe they are superior than others and want to control all the resources available and sometimes political players sort amnesty in certain countries.
Children and youth are the most targeted persons in conflict in either way. Both participate in conflict or are victims of conflict. They are believed to be the most active and can be easily brainwashed by their elders and enter into war unknowingly.
They have been easily recruited into soldiers and also the abuse of drugs and substance. In conflict areas children cannot access education and hence they are idle in their homes. This affects children in their way of behavior and the society at large.
The children and youth are exposed to arms and easily know how to use them. This changes their way of living and how they view the society. The psychological changes and impacts they go through make them not to turn back and hence their life will never be the same again.” Once a soldier always a soldier” a common saying that soldiers and combatants say. Their behavior and morals completely change and it will take time to rehabilitate them in post-conflict situations.
Children and youth who cannot access education and other social needs is the same as a society without a foundation. This shows us how much the children and youth are important in the society. Lack of jobs for young men in particular pave a huge ground for recruits, for those seeking to mobilize violence.
It is important to note that children and youth have to be engaged in various activities because they have so much to contribute in the peace building and reconstruction processes. This will bring a decline in internal armed conflict, terrorism and rioting which mostly depends on the environment they are in.
Both these groups have a role in the society that will help in becoming good constructive adults in future.
It is absurd that women suffer not only from the products of war but are also targeted as a strategy of war. They undergo through sexual violence and rape to break to social life of communities and societies. They also play a major role in conflict by inciting or indirectly been involved in conflict.
Women who experience sexual violence and rape go through sociological torture and hence their life maybe never be same again. Those who end up getting pregnant have to find ways of feeding herself and seek medical attention which are not readily accessible.
Violent conflict has had a negative impact on women. Sexual violence, particularly rape, is often used as a weapon of war to: Destabilize families, groups and communities; Carry out ethnic cleansing and genocide; instil fear in population in order to dampen resistance or incite fight; as a form of punishment and torture and affirm aggression.
Societies that have been destabilize get involved in illegal activities such as childtrafficking, sexual slavery, sexual exploitation and domestic violence. This shows how destabilization of families can really affect the society and can cause other forms of violence.
It has also been evident that peace keepers or aid works have demanded for sexual favours in exchange of maybe food or shelter. This makes them more vulnerable either during violence or conflict reconstruction processes.
Women and girls have been greatly affected due to forced displacement of which include. Increased risk of sexual and gender based violence, difficulties in providing support to population in transit, lack of gender sensitive services and pregnancy.
These vulnerability groups have to be given alot of support as they are at risk of contracting even HIV because they are much exposed to conflict and bring the society into a breakdown as they are important for the balance of society and family.
There have been Many interpretations of reconciliation. Some have resorted to justice. Some have had a consensus which is sedomly used. Others believe that in coming together and having a dialogue and forgiveness will bring a proper reconciliation process as the perpetrators of certain crimes acknowledge their wrong doings and ask for forgiveness and victims may forgive them. This form wad used in the northern part of Uganda. This was the mato oput system where perpetrators ask for forgiveness and drink from the bitter herbs of the mato-oput tree. This would work in most cases.
Reconciliation tries to bring all the perpetrators and victims together for a mutual benefit. All of the past stories and suffering may come to an end if all what they do is to forgive and move on. It tries to bring to our attention that we are only human and all that we need is to love one another.
In most violent conflicts, child soldiers have been involved without a proper understanding in what they were doing. These children go through a tougher way of recovering their childhood life. They have to be brought through a proper conselling and also rehabilitation process that involves alot. People like these have to be integrated into the society and realise that it is not their fault. Much concern is whether they will see the society different that what was before. Reconciliation processes involves alot which brings societies closer in helping both the perpetrators and the victims.
However serious perpetrators who are believed to start a war have to be tried before a certain jurisdiction. Those that are believed to start a conflict either directly or indirectly.
Reconciliation is important to enable states develop good and effective structures that will help or intergrated all people in state for social, economic and political growth.
It is well and good to understand the term post conflict reconstruction. It is used when referring to states that have been on a long term conflict and have come to an agreement of peace and have decided to take a step to recovery.
Post-conflict reconstruction needs a well planned cooperation between different actors to enhance recovery efforts which aim at assisting the actors to understand the environment in which they will be operating for a proper recovery strategy.
Again the actors and institutions of conflict management have to understand properly the conflict in a particular area. Some conflicts can be very complex which may not need force but rather involvement of civil societies, vulnerable people in the conflict who have suffered alot due to conflict.
However there is a challenge in bringing reconciliation among war affected people. There is ample evidence to show that there are many cases of violent conflict in which conflicts have restarted after brief periods of relative peace when parties to conflict feel that their needs have not been addressed. Majority of conflict in the world end in military victory for one of the parties which end up in renewed violence. The failure to address the underlying the root causes of conflict and address original or subsequent grievances can cause post-conflict reconciliation to fail and hance increase the risk of renewed violence. Military victories are rarely sustainable, especially while genuine grievances remain unaddressed.
Sri Lanka and Rwanda have experienced violent conflicts in the past and have witnessed immense human cost in intrastate conflicts. Sri Lanka is relatively new entrant to post-conflict status, after having won a three decade war in 2009 against a rebel group called the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE).
Understanding the root causes of these particular countries have been fueled by post colonial allies that used the divide and rule system in governance. The road to reconstruction can be bitter sometimes however peace will prevail.
Peace Building has got alot of involvement and various aspects that help in bringing stability in conflict areas. Peace building involves various institutions coming together with various structures that bring about the sustainability of peace where there was conflict and how states can recover from the social, economic and political lives.
There is a life to live after peace and therefore conflict victims have to be helped in order to recover from the conflict that was with them. They have to be helped to go through some counseling and financial recovery. This is what peace Building institutions have to give the affected parties.
Peace building involves some characteristics into it for it to become a peace building mission and make it effective, whereby conflict can be accessed for the management and mitigation of conflict. Peace building endeavours to achieve its goals which are guided by certain principles. The first principle is to have a safe and secure environment: Ability of the people to conduct their daily lives without fear of systematic or large scale violence. Rule of law: Ability of the people to have equal access to just laws and a trusted system of justice that holds all persons accountable, protects their human rights and ensures their safety and security. A stable governance: Ability of the people to share, access, or compete for power through non violent political process and to enjoy the collective benefits and services of the state. A sustainable economy: Ability of the people to pursue opportunities for livelihoods in a system of economic governance bound by law. Social well-being: Ability of the people to be free from want of basic needs and to co-exist peacefully in community with opportunity for advancement.
It is important to note that in order to achieve peace building states have to build strong political institutions that have well organized structure for the sustainability of peace.

Our world is inevitable to conflict. As the world system is dynamic so many things change and new forms of conflict develop each and everyday as humans we experience lots of conflict with each other where we cannot easily escape.
We are trapped in the world of conflict and the only solution is to face it. Even in the wild, there is experience of conflict. It could be of various factors. In our world system conflicts shape our socio-political structures and affect how states relate. Many states live in conflict each and everyday and probably they will experience conflict as long as it exists. We have an obligation as human beings to change. World systems have brought about conflicts and this is due to selfish characters that we have. It’s survival for the fittest as the world puts it many writers have developed theories to explain the world system. Some states have resorted to many ways of tackling conflict. Many have suggested to look into the root causes of conflict and that only will come to the realization of peace. A continent like Africa has experienced much that it can handle. Who do we blame for all these? Should we blame ourselves for all that is happening to our continent. We’ve struggled alot in the quest for power and dominance. One community feels it is right to exterminate one community because it deserves to dominate and have total dominance. As a continent we have to come to the realization that we have to have peace for a better development of our continent

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
